Tell us a bit about yourself….

My name is Elizabeth Fieler and I also go by Lizzybel. Most importantly, I am a mother to two amazing, beautiful, young ladies. I work hard for a living and enjoy playing on my time off. Art is a huge part of every aspect of my life. I specialize in charcoal portraiture and figurative work and hope to transcend my charcoal series of checkered bodies into sculptural work soon.

As you have grown within your talent, what inspires you to create?

Lately, my biggest inspiration has been to see change happening with myself. I enjoy growing, learning and morphing. I’m inspired because I wanna see how far I can push and how much I can pull. I don’t know my future, but I love wondering what it will be. As I create my work, I find myself meditating as I focus. I have time to focus and think, visualize what I need and want for myself and my kids. Art, for me, is therapuetic and rewarding on so many levels in my life. Once I complete a series, and I get to share that with my community, it brings fulfillment on many levels and inspires me to create more and more. Seems to be a positive cycle.

How long have you been producing your craft and why did you begin this form of expression?

On a more specific level, I’ve been working on photo-realistic charcoal pieces for about three years now. I started it because I knew it was a more difficult medium to work with and I wanted to master it. I also fell in love with drawing because I feel it is the root of ALL art. I knew eventually I would figure out exactly what I want it to grow into….. right now, it’s slowly morphing into working with light and shadows.

What do you ultimately want to accomplish with your talent?

Ultimately, I want my children to learn from whatever I do. For them to know that if they do what they are passionate about, they can accomplish whatever they wish for. Yes, it sounds cheesy, but it’s so incredibly true. I also just hope that with my talent, I can make some kind of impact. Maybe it be challenging people’s beliefs, creating new perspectives in people, challenging people to think philosophically, or something of that nature. To know that an impact like that has been made on other people through my art, would be incredible.

Outside of your artistry, what other interests do you have?

I very much enjoy philosophy, theoretical physics, astronomy, reading and wine. Haha, yes, wine.  🙂    I truly enjoy being around friends and family. I like laughing everyday and I like over analyzing things.  🙂

Tell us a bit about yourself….

My name is Kathryn Petroff, and I am the owner of KLP Fine Art. I work as a full time artist/muralist, creating custom murals and portraits for residential and commercial clients. I also create and sell my own creative gallery works in oils and conte. I relocated a few years ago from my home town of Dallas to the small mountain community of Bailey, CO and travel between the two areas for projects.

As you have grown within your talent, what inspires you to create?

It’s a bit broad, but life inspires me. I don’t have to force an idea. Life just happens, and I pull from that. My style definitely combines an edginess that influenced me growing up in Dallas along with the peacefulness of nature that I am surrounded by today. I love layering visuals and their meanings in my paintings to mimic the complex layers of memories I hold onto.

How long have you been producing your craft and why did you begin this form of expression?

Well, I would assume I’ve been creating my entire life…at least, as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family of artists, and that was just part of everyday life in our house. It was how we bonded and shared ideas. When I went off to college, the question was never, “Are you going to major in Business or Science?” It was, “Are you majoring in Visual Arts or Dance?” I have always had great support with my creative endeavors, and there was never a question that this is simply who I am.

What do you ultimately want to accomplish with your talent?

I think the dreams of becoming rich and famous are a bit silly to hope for, and typically mean you are just good at following the trend of the moment. I just want to paint what I feel and know that it has inspired someone, whether it’s to look at something in a new way or to keep pushing in their own creativity. I’m going to paint regardless of if I sell work or not. It’s my oxygen, and I can’t live without it.

Outside of your artistry, what other interests do you have?

My husband and I are big nature fanatics. (Obviously. Not many people would pick up and move to the woods.) We hike every second possible, backpack, camp, bike, etc. Our one year old son comes right along with us and is so much fun to watch exploring the mountains. Darkroom Photography and Dance have always been dear to my heart as well, and you can see many visuals from them pulled into my artwork.

What was your first experience with ArtLoveMagic?

My first experience with ArtLoveMagic was several years ago, right after I had just started my business. I saw an online ad for an event they were having at the Janette Kennedy Gallery, and I contacted them to see if I could get involved. They were super positive and asked me to be part of the show. When I showed up people kept coming up to me saying, “Oh, you’re the conte chick!” I later found out that most of my art buddies from high school and college were already involved in their events too. It just felt like a good match from the beginning.

Tell us a bit about yourself….

I am Anastasia Tillman (Stasi). I am 13 years old. I draw and dance. My goal in life is to give glory to the Lord, Jesus Christ, and to touch people’s hearts through my art.

As you have grown within your talent, what inspires you to create?

God inspires me to create. Watching masters of art perfect their craft and share their creativity gives me desire to improve. I have had amazing teachers who help me improve artistically.

How long have you been producing your craft and why did you begin this form of expression?

I have been drawing and painting for 11 years. I have been drawing in pencil for the past two and a half years. Ever since I could remember I always wanted to draw, and draw, and draw! I used to wake up early in the morning and sit down at the coffee table and draw for hours. God gave me love for this art.

What do you ultimately want to accomplish with your talent?

I want my art to glorify God, who is the perfect Creator of this world’s beauty. As an artist, my greatest honor and achievement would be to come as close as posssible to reflecting His originally perfected creation.

Outside of your artistry, what other interests do you have?

I am a ballerina.

What was your first experience with ArtLoveMagic?

I participated in Marinela Talent. It was an amazing first experience.

Tell us a bit about yourself….

My name is Erika Krivda. I’m normally hanging out with the 2 coolest kids I know, Madison and Nicholas. When I’m not with them I’m either in my studio painting or at Main Street Station, gift store that my mother and I have had for 13 years. While working with family can be challenging at times, it also has allowed me the flexibly to pursue my dreams. If I didn’t have the support of my family and friends I’m not sure what I’d be doing today.

As you have grown within your talent, what inspires you to create?

My inspiration comes from my everyday life. My children are a huge factor in my paintings, it’s rather entertaining having 2 kids 8 years apart. My mom has one of the most creative minds ever. Watching her create is like watching fireworks, I’m simply in awe. When I am having a tough time with a particular piece, I Skype my dad. He somehow knows the exact words to get me motivated or to calm me. My most favorite painting I’ve ever created was inspired by My Casino Pirate (my sissy).

How long have you been producing your craft and why did you begin this form of expression?

Coming from a family of artists, I have been painting and creating since I was a child. My Grandfather, James Gardner, once told me that I knew how to use a paintbrush before a fork! I’m not a traditional kinda artists, while I LOVE my paintbrushes, I truly believe anything can be used as a painting tool. Working with acrylics is my passion but my first actual art piece was done with fabrics.

What do you ultimately want to accomplish with your talent?

As a child my dream was to be a full time artist. Painting was my outlet and my hope is that my art will inspire others to create.

Outside of your artistry, what other interests do you have?

I love going to resale shops and finding hidden gems! Playing top golf and Foosball with my friends or just simply hanging out with them. I love fall so my backyard becomes my retreat! Music, drinks, food, and cool weather make me very happy. If I’m not doing those things I’m probably watching Husker football or playing Call of Duty:-)

What was your first experience with ArtLoveMagic?

I volunteered at Underground 2012 and then was asked to be an artist at May and Septembers Art and Coffee.

Tell us a bit about yourself….

My name is Liz Trosper. I’m a mixed media painter living in Dallas, TXI love art, music and public affairs. I spend my work-a-day hours doing corporate philanthropy for a Fortune 500 company.

As you have grown within your talent, what inspires you to create?

Music is a huge inspiration for me. I’ve been known to belt a tune, do live band karaoke, and obsessively play a newly discovered song. It’s amazing how the aesthetics of a song can change a person’s energy. Each song I hear helps me interpret life, find humor and create new meaning.

How long have you been producing your craft and why did you begin this form of expression?

I’ve been drawing since I was able to hold a utensil. My first work of art was carving “I love you” in my mother’s coffee table with scissors when I was four years old. My parents thought it would be wise to invest in some art supplies. I’ve been working ever since because it’s my way of making sense of the world, I guess.

What do you ultimately want to accomplish with your talent?

Although I started college on a scholarship from the Texas Arts & Crafts Foundation, I wound up a classic example of what Arthur Danto calls an “artistic dropout.” This is because art felt unattainable to me – controlled in cold concrete galleries, reserved for rich people, and its meaning dictated by little white plaques. I want to make art that feels accessible to people and makes them confident about their ability to interpret modern and abstract art. My dream is to get an MFA so that I can spend all my time making, thinking and writing about art.

Outside of your artistry, what other interests do you have?

Urban planning and grant writing. That’s the career I built in the intervening artistic dropout years. The way our communities are built dictates our visual environment, how we move, how goods (read: your artwork) get to market, and whether or not we have a safe place to create and express our work. I’ve successfully written several grants during my years in economic development, and would love use that talent to help artists in Dallas. In addition to art-making, I provide freelance grant writing services.

What was your first experience with ArtLoveMagic?

GirlShow 2008. Great experience. Back again!

Tell us a bit about yourself….

My name is Amber Davis and I am a stay at home mom/artist. The commissions I take on range from personal paintings and portraits, to photography and even wedding cakes. As long as I can use my hands and my imagination there is no limit to what I will attempt.

As you have grown within your talent, what inspires you to create?

My inspiration comes from my frustrations in life. I am driven to visually create beautiful representations of the problems in my world that I feel helpless to change. As I am getting older the problems are expanding from my world to our world. I am currently working on a way to incorporate positive inspiration in my work with the hope that it will encourage change, rather than just focusing on the problems.

How long have you been producing your craft and why did you begin this form of expression?

Art has always been my love in life, but oil painting is my passion. My mother and grandmother oil painted for years and noticed my interest in the arts. I began my formal training in oils at the age of 9. My education consisted of painting landscapes from pictures and the occasional reproduction of a classic to learn various styles. It wasn’t until I was in my early twenties that I made it mine. My art began to take on a life of its own and continues to be my balance in this world.

What do you ultimately want to accomplish with your talent?

I would like for my art to become a visual voice for positive change.

Outside of your artistry, what other interests do you have?

I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with my family, astrology, astronomy, meditation, reading a great book, herbalism, listening to loud music, helping people around me, lending a friend an ear, and taking in all of the things my beautiful daughter teaches me every day.

What was your first experience with ArtLoveMagic?

I attended an ArtLoveCoffee event earlier this summer and loved the atmosphere. It was great to see the community ALM has created.
