Tell us a bit about yourself….
My name is Erika Krivda. I’m normally hanging out with the 2 coolest kids I know, Madison and Nicholas. When I’m not with them I’m either in my studio painting or at Main Street Station, gift store that my mother and I have had for 13 years. While working with family can be challenging at times, it also has allowed me the flexibly to pursue my dreams. If I didn’t have the support of my family and friends I’m not sure what I’d be doing today.
As you have grown within your talent, what inspires you to create?
My inspiration comes from my everyday life. My children are a huge factor in my paintings, it’s rather entertaining having 2 kids 8 years apart. My mom has one of the most creative minds ever. Watching her create is like watching fireworks, I’m simply in awe. When I am having a tough time with a particular piece, I Skype my dad. He somehow knows the exact words to get me motivated or to calm me. My most favorite painting I’ve ever created was inspired by My Casino Pirate (my sissy).
How long have you been producing your craft and why did you begin this form of expression?
Coming from a family of artists, I have been painting and creating since I was a child. My Grandfather, James Gardner, once told me that I knew how to use a paintbrush before a fork! I’m not a traditional kinda artists, while I LOVE my paintbrushes, I truly believe anything can be used as a painting tool. Working with acrylics is my passion but my first actual art piece was done with fabrics.
What do you ultimately want to accomplish with your talent?
As a child my dream was to be a full time artist. Painting was my outlet and my hope is that my art will inspire others to create.
Outside of your artistry, what other interests do you have?
I love going to resale shops and finding hidden gems! Playing top golf and Foosball with my friends or just simply hanging out with them. I love fall so my backyard becomes my retreat! Music, drinks, food, and cool weather make me very happy. If I’m not doing those things I’m probably watching Husker football or playing Call of Duty:-)
What was your first experience with ArtLoveMagic?
I volunteered at Underground 2012 and then was asked to be an artist at May and Septembers Art and Coffee.

There isn’t enough room in this space to adequately appreciate Erika’s talent and the outpourings of that gift. Artistry in her genes goes well beyond that of her maternal grandfather, back to a great grandfather and others of his family who portrayed this God-given ability. All that said, Erika has her very own and individual vision that emerges on each one of her works.
